Vitamin D during pregnancy reduces allergy in kids

Consuming high amount of food which contains Vitamin D during pregnancy can reduce the risk of the fetus having skin allergies according to a study. Such as; fish, eggs, dairy products, mushrooms and cereals.

If one takes specific Vitamin D one may not enjoy the same benefits. “This study may influence nutritional counseling and recommendations to expectant moms to include vitamin D-rich foods in their diets,” said Supinda Bunyavanich, says assistant professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Vitamin D can bring change in the immune system and its prominent role in health related problems like asthma and allergy was the major concern of the study.

The US research was published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology which highlighted the significant nutrients needed for pregnant women.

The research team conducted this study on 1,248 mothers and their children who were in the first trimester until the kids turned into seven years old. In this study, they found that having milk per day while pregnancy was related to 20% less fever during school days.

Though, there is no risk involved in taking Vitamin D supplements.
