Hyderabad, December 25: TAKING the same line it had adopted in the case of the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case, the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) has issued an advisory to the electronic media on the coverage of Justice Srikrishna Committee report on the Telangana issue due to be submitted to the Centre on Dec 31. The decision to do so was taken at a meeting between NBA representatives and the Broadcast Editors Association in New Delhi on December 22. The advisory, which lists dos and don’ts for the visual media, was prepared by the National Broadcasting Standards Authority chairperson Justice (retd) JS Verma.
All the broadcasters have been advised to preserve all programmes telecast in relation to the Srikrishna report, including scripts for examination, if necessary. “It is expected that strict adherence to these guidelines would be ensured by all the editors to avoid any violation which may invite strict action,” the Advisory observed.
