Visitors throng Tattapani hot water spring to take a dip for better health

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), Feb.24 (ANI): Visitors converged at Tattapani over the weekend to take a dip in the hot water spring, which is believed to possess healing powers for treatment of various ailments.

Tattapani is situated in Kalakote village, about 35 kilometres south east of Rajouri district in the Jammu region.

Water emanating from the Tattapani spring is very hot, and is considered to be the best for skin disorders and joint pains.

Speaking to a reporter, Assistant Director, Tourism Department, Ashma Sher, said the number of visitors have increased and the administration has made elaborate arrangements for the same.

“A lot of rush is seen nowadays in Tattapani, as visitors are coming from various states like Srinagar, Ladakh and some from outside states as well. Due to the rush, we have renovated the dormitory here which was in a dilapidated condition earlier. We have made arrangements for a comfortable stay of visitors,” said Sher.

It is believed that after taking a dip in hot water spring, bone, joint ailments and skin diseases are cured, as the waters contains lot of minerals, especially phosphorus compounds.

The village head of District Barmandal, Tattapani, Somnath Khajuria said the state government needs to popularise the hot water spring better.

“Due to the holy water, this place Tattapani is famous not only in this state, but all over the country. People come here from across the country, it forgives our sins and cures a lot of ailments like joint pains and skin infections. It is, however, unfortunate that visitors do not get facilities that should be provided to them when they visit this place,” said Khajuria.

The healthy climate, thick forests and and enchanting view of the surrounding hills adds to its scenic and natural beauty. (ANI)
