Vishweshwar Reddy’s bail plea rejected

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who was slapped with a criminal case by the Banjara Hills police for wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation and assaulting two police men, has been denied anticipatory bail by the Nampally Criminal Courts here on Thursday.

It may be mentioned here that the Banjara Hills police have registered an FIR against the Chevella MP for allegedly confining, threatening and assaulting a police sub-inspector and a head constable at his office in the city last week.

Based on a complaint filed by the SI and a constable, the Banjara Hills police booked a case against Vishweshwar Reddy under Section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC last week. The police were searching for Konda Vishweshwar Reddy for the past one week as he has been evading them since the case was filed.

During the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, Sub-Inspector Krishna and head constable Srinivas visited the office of Konda Vishweshwar Reddy at Banjara Hills, regarding a case related to one Sandeep Reddy, who was his associate. Sandeep was detained by the police after he was caught carrying Rs 10 lakh raising doubts whether the cash was meant to influence voters.

When the Sub-Inspector, along with the head constable, went to the office of Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, to inquire about the cash seizure from Sandeep, they were allegedly confined in a room on the second floor of the building and threatened by Vishweshwar Reddy and his office staff. Following which a case of wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation was filed by the police officials against Konda Vishweswar Reddy.

After the incident, the Chevella MP went underground and moved an anticipatory bail petition two day ago. But the Nampally criminal court rejected his bail petition.
