Visalandhra Mahasabha asks Congress to oppose AP’s bifurcation

Visalandhra Mahasabha leader Parkala Prabhakar on Wednesday demanded that the Congress party oppose any moves for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to reporters after submitting a memorandum to PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana at Gandhi Bhavan here, Prabhakar said that the Congress party should support United Andhra Pradesh. He contended that the overall development of the State was possible only through a united State and any move to bifurcate the State would be detrimental to the interests of all three regions.

Prabhakar claimed that a majority of the people in the State was in favour of united Andhra Pradesh and only a few politicians with vested interests were advocating formation of Telangana region. Therefore, he demanded that the Congress party oppose the bifurcation demand and take steps to keep the State united. (INN)
