Viqar encounter investigation delayed – Mr. Sandeep Shandaliya proceeds on leave

Two separate incidents of encounters occurred on 7th April in A.P. and Telangana States. In the Alair encounter, five Muslim under-trial prisoners were shot dead by the police in a fake encounter while transporting them from Warangal to Hyderabad. On Chittor incident, English and Telugu Dailies, political and voluntary organizations made a strong protest. Hyderabad High Court also expressed its unpleasantness on the slow progress of Chittor encounter case but nothing of this sort happened in respect of Alair encounter. The height of lethargy is that the political party claiming to represent the Muslims also kept quiet. Many Muslim organizations and leaders are demanding CBI enquiry or an investigation through a sitting judge of High Court.

Govt. of Telangana had constituted a Special Investigating Team but it seems that it is difficult to identify the erring police officials in this case. The process of investigation has been shelved in to cold storage. It seems that the lamp of probe was put off before it was lighted.

It is understood that the Chief of SIT, Mr. Sandeep Shandaliya has proceeded on long leave. In this manner, no progress has been made in Alair encounter case. He might resume duty on 18th May.
