President of Samajwadi Party of Maharastra and MLA, Mr. Abu Asim Azmi in a letter addressed to CM of Telangana Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao gave 10 days time for accepting his demands. In his letter, Mr. Azmi wrote that if CM fails to concede to his demands to resolve Viqar encounter issue, SP will launch a massive public protest in Hyderabad by arranging Mahadharna. In his strong worded letter Mr. Azmi hoped the Govt. of Telangana will accept his demands in Toto otherwise, SP will not hesitate to organize agitation against the Government.
Mr. Azmi’s demand’s include a compensation of Rs. 20 lakh to each victim’s family, Government job for one person, dismissal of erring police officials, hearing of trial outside the State, nomination of noted lawyers of CBI and NIA.
Citing his recent visit to Hyderabad, Mr. Azmi said that after knowing the facts from the victims’ families and also sensing the public opinion, he has come to a conclusion that it is not an encounter but police killed the innocent youths brutally in the name of encounter.
In his letter, Mr. Azmi mentioned that Alair encounter gives a feeling that “the protectors of law have become assassins”. He demanded the Government of Telangana to approach High Court to demand probe by a sitting judge and also to arrange hearing of the case outside the State. He termed this encounter as an organized crime by the police and demanded that all the police officials who are involved in killing the innocent Muslim youths should be dismissed from the service and they should be sent to prison.
