Hyderabad, February 18: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president D Srinivas has taken exception to the attacks on the homes of peoples’ representatives by Telangana forces demanding their resignations so as to help mount pressure for the granting of Statehood to the region.
He condemned the attacks and deplored the participation by advocates in the same.
In an informal chat with mediapersons on the Assembly premises here today, he maintained that resignations were not the solution. Quitting of posts by MPs or MLAs would mean losing an opportunity to raise the demand in legislative bodies.
On the resignation of BJP MLA Y Laxminarayana who had defeated him in the the Nizambad Urban Assembly constituency, Srinivas said the former had been `fooled’ by fellow BJP legislator G Kishan Reddy.
Replying to a question, he was noncommital on contesting in the byelection thus necessitated.
As for the resignations by two Congress MLAs, he hoped that the “problem” would be solved by the high command very soon.
Earlier, the PCC president had a meeting with party MLAs and MLCs of Medak and Warangal districts and directed them to take an active part in the Assembly proceedings Meanwhile, former Nirmal MLA A Indrakaran Reddy has questioned why PRP MLA A Maheshwar Reddy had been sent along with two Congress legislators R Damodar Reddy and Ch Mutyam Reddy to meet the party high command in New Delhi.
He registered his protest and said that Maheshwar Reddy should not be allowed into the party.
In fact, even as all the Congress leaders and workers in the district seem to be against the bid of the PRP legislator to join the party, the PCC chief said he was not aware of any such move on the part of Maheshwar Reddy.
