violence marks telangana bandh: KCR continues fast

Hyderabad, November 30:Normal life remained crippled and the entire public transport system came to a grinding halt in various parts of Telangana on Monday as the region observed a total bandh which was marred by violent incidents and sporadic arson.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has given the call for Telangana Bandh in protest against the arrest of party supremo, Mr K. Chandrasekhara Rao, on Sunday while he was proceeding to Siddipet to begin his indefinite hunger strike.
Mr Chandrasekhara Rao, who was lodged in the Khammam Sub-Jail, continued his fast for the second day today and refused to take even water. The doctors, who have been attending on him every two hours in the jail, expressed concern and feared that his health might deteriorate if he continued to refuse intake of medicines.

Keeping in view his deteriorating health condition and to ensure proper medical attention, the authorities seem to be considering to shift KCR from the Khammam Sub-Jail to Chanchalguda Central Jail here. There is a possibility of him being airlifted in a helicopter and rush either to National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) at Punjagutta or the Gandhi General Hospital before being lodged in the Central jail.
