Violence in Ghaziabad following death of two in accident

Ghaziabad, May 4 (ANI): Angry townmen resorted to violence on Saturday, after two people died in a road accident in Ghaziabad. The accident occurred when a speeding truck crushed two persons riding on motorbike at a highway in the Loni area of Ghaziabad. The irate mob pelted stones at the local police. According to media reports, police had to resort to a baton charge to disperse the mob. Protesters also damaged a truck and several vehicles, and causing extensive damage to property in the area. Every year, between 150,000 and 200,000 people are killed in road accidents in India. Road accidents are common in India, where roads are often of poor quality. Transport department officials blame the surge in road accidents to reckless driving and untrained drivers. (ANI)
