Taking a dig at TDP on its candidates for Rajya Sabha, TRS MP Vinod Kumar said, “Our party has nominated those who worked for people whereas the TDP nominated businessmen to the upper house.
It was difference between TRS and TDP, Vinod Kumar quipped. Candidates of TRS, TDP and BJP today filed nomination for Rajya Sabha seat as there were six seats in two Telugu-speaking States for which elections would be held.
Ruling TRS party in Telangana fielded two candidates in Telangana State as per its MLAs’ strength. Former Congress State president D Srinivas, who changed his loyalty to TRS, was given a chance for Rajya Sabha seat by TRS. Second candidate of TRS is captain Laxmikantha Rao. The duo was selected by Chief Minister and TRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao.
In Andhra Pradesh, four seats remained vacant. While ruling TDP nominated two leaders — Sujana Choudhary and T G Venkatesh — and extended support to its ally BJP candidate who is Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu as third candidate. The fourth Rajya sabha seat would be won on its own by YSRCP, who gave chance to party’s general secretary Vijayasai Reddy. (NSS)
