Tension prevailed for some time on Monday when the police arrested Telangana United Front leader Vimalakka at her Banjara Hills residence. Telangana activists vainly tried to prevent her arrest and raised slogans against the government saying that they would not allow her arrest. However, the police arrested Vimalakka in the morning in connection with vandalizing former chief minister late Kasu Brahmananda Reddi’s statue at KBR Park.
The police whisked away Vimalakka and two others to Banjara Hills police station and registered a case under IPC Sections IPC 147, 148, 149, 332, 335 and 425. Later, the police produced them before the court.
In protest against Vimalakka’s arrest, the Telangana activists launched dharna at Indira Park.
