Hyderabad, October 22: Arunodaya Samakhya leader Vimala has come out from Gadar’s Telangana Praja Front (TPF) and launches her own front, comprising over 30 organisations.
She differed with Gadar on the perception of building the movement for securing Telangana state and when the atmosphere became suffocating, she finally bid goodbye to the TPF.
Gadar wanted the movement to put pressure on the people’s representatives into introducing a bill in the Parliament for separate statehood and declared that participation in elections is verboten.
But Vimala differed with him contending that participation in elections is also one of the aspects of the movement to achieve Telangana state. “When it has been agreed that a bill has to be introduced in Parliament, it goes without saying that we are accepting the electoral process. As and when elections are held, what is wrong in participating in the elections?” she questioned.
But made it clear on more than one occasion that the sole aim of her new formation is not to participate in elections but use it as one of the several tools to secure statehood for Telangana region.
Vimala, addressing a news conference here today along with former TRS leader Dileep Kumar and Keshava Rao Jhadav who joined forces with her, said: “We are not against Gaddaranna or his front. We differed on a point. But the goal of our two organisations is same. In future, if Gaddaranna is prepared to accept our view, we would not have any reservations to work with him,” she said.
But it is common knowledge whether the two groups, which are now poles apart, would ever meet but Vimala sounds optimistic.
“It might happen. Gadaranna himself said the modalities for building the movement could be reviewed after two months to clear the air for both the groups on whether they could work together,” she said.
She and the other leaders pointed out that theirs was not a front or a party but only a committee to implement programmes that are being drawn up to rouse people’s opinion in favour of separate Telangana state. “Ours is not a party at all. It is a committee which had decided to stay and live among people to secure Telangana state,” they clarified.
The agenda of her committee will be: Observing November 1 as betrayal day, bring pressure on the government for withdrawal of all types of cases registered against students in connection with Telangana movement, writing one crore letters to the centre for Telangana state formation and to put forth demand for introduction of bill for Telangana in the winter session of Parliament.
