Hyderabad: A woman was rescued by villagers of Koheda after an attempt of chain snatching was made by two persons in the wee hours of Tuesday. As per the police, the suspects were identified as Akshay Kumar alias Jabbar (22), a resident of Goshamahal and Sumith Kumar J (23) of Peerzadiguda.
Hayathnagar police arrested the accused when villagers alerted them while they made a chain-snatching attempt on the sixty-year-old when she walked alone in Koheda, reported Telangana Today.
Lakshmamma who is a resident of Koheda, is a milk vendor. When she reached an isolated place at around 6:30 am, the suspects tried to snatch her 40 gm necklace from behind, on a motorbike. But the locals immediately came to her rescue when she raised an alarm.
“Two persons who belong to the same village were going on the two-wheeler when Akshay and Sumith were fleeing away on their bike with the chain and intercepted them,” said J Narender Goud, Inspector, Hayathnagar.
Police registered a case under Section 392 (Robbery) of Indian Penal Code, seized their vehicle and began probing. The Inspector also said the duo were detained under Preventive Detention Act and released from the prison this year.
