Hyderabad, March 17: About 5,000 village servants under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh Grama Sevakula Sangham took out a massive rally from Sundaraiah Park to dharna chowk here yesterday demanding enhancement of wages, dearness allowance and other issues on which an agreement was reached between the revenue minister and AP Village Servants Union on February 5, 2009.
Speaking at the dharna chowk, the organisation general secretary Vanguru Ramulu said though two years have passed since the agreement was reached, the government did not fulfil any of their demands. Besides, the government was trying to remove some workers under some pretext or the other, he alleged.
Their demands include increase in salary from Rs.
1,700 to Rs. 5,000 per month, payment of dearness allowance of Rs.100, provision of medical reimbursement and promotions as per eligibility for all village servants.
They also demanded granting of Class IV employee status to village servants, filling of 10,000 vacant posts, pension facility, group insurance scheme for Rs. 50,000 and hereditary appointments.
Ramulu said a five-member delegation met revenue minister N. Raghuveera Reddy today and he assured to hold a meeting to discuss their demands after March 21.
