Hyderabad: VII Addl. Metropolitan Sessions Judge, Dr. T. Srinivas Rao exonerated two companions of Vikhar Ahmed in Malakpet E-Seva theft case which was registered 14 years back.
According to the details of the case, Vikhar Ahmed of Tehrik Ghalba-e-Islam had allegedly committed a theft in an E-seva center located at Malakpet Water Tank with the help of his two companions, Syed Omer Shameem and K. Vinod Kumar Sahu of UP on 1st January 2003 and had looted Rs. 2.68 lakh.
Initially, this case was registered at Chaderghat Police Station and after the arrest of Vikhar Ahmed and his companions in 2010, this case was entrusted to Special Investigation Team of CCS. SIT filed a charge sheet against these persons under the charges of sedition, criminal conspiracy and theft. It also alleged that the money looted from E-seva was utilized for terrorist activities. In the charge sheet it was also mentioned that a gun was purchased from Vinod Kumar Sahu of Jhansi in UP which was used by the accused.
The court examined 20 witnesses produced by the prosecution. The name of Vikhar was dropped from this case as he was killed in an encounter on 7th April 2015 when he was being shifted from Warangal Central Jail to Nampally Criminal Court. Mr. Mohammed Asif Ali, Advocate of the accused in his arguments claimed that at the time of looting, these accused persons were wearing veils (monkey caps) on their faces and hence how did the witnesses identify the culprits in the identification parade? After hearing the arguments of Mr. Asif Ali and Mr. Mohammed Rafatullah, advocates, the judge exonerated Syed Omer Shameem and Vinod Kumar Sahu.
