Hyderabad, August 01: Lok Sabha member Vijayashanti’s exit from the Telangana Rasthra Samithi (TRS) appears imminent.
In a move apparently intended to snub the former film actress, the TRS Friday announced a new politburo in which Vijayashanti did not find a place. The party has also sought an explanation from her over reports in the media about her plans to join the ruling Congress.
On her part, Vijayashanti met two erstwhile TRS leaders — former MP A Narendra and MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy — and discussed her future political activity. ‘‘The present situation in the TRS is not conducive for Vijayashanti to continue in the party.
She feels neglected,’’ Narendra told newsmen, leaving none in doubt as to what she intends to do.
Later in the evening, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, who has been facing rebellion since the party’s disastrous performance in the Assembly elections, met with senior leaders to discuss the developments related to Vijayashanti.
Having realised that the actress is unlikely to continue in the TRS, Rao has chosen to constitute a 23- member politburo without Vijayashanti, who happens to be the secretary general of the separatist party. ‘‘We have given full respect to Vijayashanti.
She was given a high position and a Lok Sabha ticket.
We do not know why she wants to leave the party.
We have asked her to explain her position but so far she has not responded,’’ senior leader Nayani Narasimha Reddy told newsmen.
Refusing to answer further queries, Reddy said the politburo would meet tomorrow to discuss various issues including that of Vijayashanti, who merged her party — Talli Telangana — with the TRS in the pre-poll adjustments.
