YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma on lodged a complaint with Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal against the arrest of YSR Congress party leaders in election-bound constituencies and not allowing them to participate in the campaigns.
The complaint letter written by Vijayamma was handed over to Bhanwarlal by YSR Congress leaders MV Mysoora Reddy, Shobha Nagi reddy, Konda Surekha, Bajireddy Goverdhan and others.
Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal assured the YSR Congress leaders that he would initiate action against the police officials after getting a report from the Director General of Police. In her complaint, Vijayamma stated that she would launch campaign from Macherla in Guntur district on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India on Monday allotted ‘Ceiling Fan’ as common symbol for the YSR Congress party in the ensuing by-elections for 18 Assembly constituencies on June 12. The Election Commission took this decision following a letter written by YSR Congress leaders in this regard. (INN)
