Jagati Publications’ vice-chairman Vijayasai Reddy, who is Accused No. 2 in the disproportionate assets case against YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court stating that CBI should have greater autonomy.
The High Court has admitted the petition after hearing arguments by the petitioner. Further hearing of the petition was posted to next Wednesday. The High Court also issued notices to the Union government and the CBI, directing them to file their counters.
Vijayasai Reddy has argued in his petition that the CBI should have autonomy and should work under the Central Vigilance Commission. He said that as the agency was now working under the Central government, it lacked freedom.
Vijayasai Reddy has filed a petition in the AP High Court also earlier. Rejecting the petition then, the court had said that he should file it in the Supreme Court. Now Vijayasai has filed the petition in the Delhi High Court. (NSS)
