Mr. Vijay Kumar Soni who posed himself as a Muslim and made an attempt to incite the Muslim youths on the occasion of Babri Masjid demolition day on 6th December near Makka Masjid was given in judicial custody for 14 days. Moghalpura police brought him under tight security in Nampally Criminal Court and presented him at the VIII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. The Magistrate refused to accept his remand since a case was registered against him under section 153(A)(Spreading communal hatred). The police took him to 14th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate late at night yesterday. He sent him in judicial custody for 14 days. Moghalpura police shifted Vijay Kumar secretly and task force staff was posted at Nampally criminal court.
It may be noted that Vijay Kumar mingled with the agitating Muslim youths near fire station Moghalpura after the Friday prayer. He was alleged to have shouted slogans and incited Muslim youths to throw stones. In order to mislead the Muslim youths he was wearing a black shirt and a locket of Allah (SWT). A few local Muslim youths identified him and handed him over to police. A complaint was also lodged at Moghalpura Police Station. When he was caught by the Muslim youths, he was telling his name sometimes as Quraishi and some other time some other name to mislead the Muslims. The Muslim youths and the media pointed out that he was police informer but police disowned him.
It may be noted that Siasat Urdu Daily had published a photo on 10th December in which he was shown to be saluting the Police Officers in a peculiar style. Even after the publication of his photograph with police officials, police allowed him to go home after admonition. Repeated complaints of the partial attitude of the police in media forced the police officials to take action against Vijay Kumar and it registered a criminal case no. 172/2013 against him under section 153 (A) and 427. Police arrested him and presented before the magistrate.
