D Sridhar Babu today differed with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on making amendments to clauses of Telangana Draft Bill. Talking to reporters at Assembly Lobbies after it was postponed for the day, he said that Telangana Ministers and leaders met Speaker N Manohar and appealed him that “views” should replace “amendments” in the prepared format given to members. Sridhar Babu also said that the Legislative Secretariat has no right to make changes like amendments to clauses in the bill when views were sought. He alleged that the Chief Minister is still conspiring to stall the debate and making ill efforts against bifurcation. He ridiculed Kiran Reddy for seeking voting and amendments on clauses, when the President Pranab Mukherjee sought only views. We are supposed to uphold the spirit of the Constitution and debate the bill to send the opinion to the President, he said. He exuded confidence that the Parliament will pass the T bill despite stiff resistance from Seemandhra Congress leaders. (NSS)
