Hyderabad, July 05: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Datatterya on Sunday indicated that senior party leader and former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao would contest the forthcoming by-elections from the Vemulawada Assembly constituency.
Talking to media persons at the BJP headquarters in Hyderabad, Mr Dattatreya said that Mr Vidyasagar’s name would be finalised if Mr Chennamaneni Ramesh does not contest for the seat.
Mr Ramesh had earlier resigned from the Vemulawada seat and joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Turning his attention to the Nizamabad Urban constituency, Mr Dattatreya alleged that the Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas was resorting to spending huge amounts of money to win the seat.
He said that the people of that constituency will teach a lesson to Mr Srinivas and there is no way that the PCC chief will be able to wrest the seat from the BJP.
Mr Dattatreya further claimed that after Mr Srinivas is defeated, the Congress will wake up to realise the extent of pro-Telangana sentiment amongst the people.
The senior BJP leader further said that it was a shame that the government had to rely on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams to conduct the Srikrishnadevarayya Pattabhishekam celebrations.
