Videocon launches’below one paisa’ GSM Mobile service in TNs

Chennai, March 25: The Videocon Group, one of India’s leading global business conglomerates, today announced the launch of its GSM Mobile service in the Tamil Nadu circle with “below one paise effective tariff” and unviled its plan to invest around Rs 14,000 crore in Videocon Mobile Services over the next three years.

Announcing this at a press conference here, Mr Venugopal Dhoot, Chairman Videocon Group said the company has drawn up plans for one of the fastest sequential roll-outs covering 100 key cities/ towns over the next 100 days across the country.

Mr Dhoot said Videocon was planning an investment of Rs 1500 crore in Tamil Nadu and the company would leverage 3400 towers to deliver superior services to the subscribers, across 550 towns in the state within the coming week. “We are planning to cover 100 per cent of the urban population of the state within two months and 75 per cent of the state’s rural population in the next 12 months,” he said.

Videocon would have a retail presence in over 19,000 outlets from day one and would cover 50,000 outlets within a year, offering easy access to customers across the state.

Videocon would unveil its services in key cities across Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Mumbai circles over the next 100 days.

“Deploying a future ready 2.75G EDGE GSM network, Videocon Mobile services offers subscribers innovative Value-Added Services (VAS) and superior customer service and un unprecedented sub one paise effective tariff, which is designed to suit all pockets with a tariff plan that is transparent and simple,” he said.
