Video: ‘Thank You for Ramadan’, witnesses filmed praising fasting Muslims helped save lives

LONDON: Multiple non-Muslim resident witnesses were filmed praising members of the Muslim community and their Holy month of Ramadan for helping save lives.

They added that if it wasn’t the fasting month and there were not up for Suhur, there would have been more causalities.

Residents who had stayed up for Sehri (pre-dawn meal) saw the inferno break out just before 1 a.m.

After sensing the smoke smell about an hour after midnight Tuesday, the fasting Muslims came out of their homes and began running around, frantically knocking on neighbours’ doors to wake them up, the Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

“Muslim boys saved people’s lives. They ran around knocking on people’s doors. Thank God for Ramadan,” a local resident told HuffPost UK.

“Thank you, Ramadan, thank you for Ramadan,” eyewitnesses were heard saying even as smoke billowed from the building in the background.

In another video, a woman was heard telling reporters how young Muslim men helped save ‘a lot of lives’:

“If it wasn’t for all these young Muslim boys round here, helping us, coming from Mosque, people would’ve [been] dead, more people would’ve [been] dead,” another eyewitness is seen saying.
