MUMBAI: Bollywood famed singer Sonu Nigam has offered a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for Sheikh Salim Gafoor who saved Amarnath pilgrims during a terror attack.

Brave-heart Sheikh Salim from Valsad in Gujarat has won love and respect and became India’s favorite super hero after heroically saving lives of over 50 pilgrims from certain death during a terror attack.

A Mumbai mirror report quotes a source close to Sonu saying, “Sonu was really moved by the driver’s courage and his presence of mind. He made sure that the driver was tracked down and ensured that the money reached him safely. It’s an inspiring gesture by him, as he made sure that such unsung heroes are awarded.”

“Such people are always given a bravery award or medal for their actions by the government. But they should be financially rewarded for their goodness and amazing presence of mind,” confirmed the singer in the same report.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was all praise for Sheikh and said his government would recommend his name for a bavery award to the Centre. While J&K government announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh for his act.

This is Salim’s fifth trip to the Amarnath, driving pilgrims on behalf of Om Travels of Valsad in south Gujarat, he said.
