Mumbai: Film based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin ‘Azhar’ , which has been in the trouble from its day first of start seems that it may run into some trouble again just days before it release.
Film starring Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri, is all set to release on May 13. The film will showcase all the elements in Azhar’s life, from his glorious cricketing career to his love life to the fixing scandal.
While Azharuddin has been agreed upon the story line, it seems Azhar’s second wife Sangeeta Bijlani is quite concerned about her portrayal as the infamous ‘house breaker’ in the movie.
According to reports Sangeeta Bijlani is not pleased with the making of the movie, which reminds her of the time when she was married to the ex-cricketer.
Sangeeta Bijlani is all set to sue the makers of the film because she feels that her character, which is being essayed by Nargis Fakhri in the film, has been portrayed in a bad light and is shown to be a home-breaker. Although Sangeeta hasn’t seen the film, she plans to watch it and if she finds that the manner in which her character has been portrayed in the film is objectionable then she will take legal action against the film’s makers.
According to TOI report, another popular cricketer Manoj Prabhakar, who is said to have been the key witness in Azharuddin’s match fixing scam, is planning to take legal action against the makers of ‘Azhar.’ Apparently, Manoj feels that the film is a biopic on Azharuddin and hence, would portray him in good light. Prabhakar feels that even though the match fixing episode has been retained in the film, chances are that Azharuddin might not been shown as a culprit but a victim and his character might be shown in bad light.
However Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has slammed the reports that actress Sangeeta Bijlani is not happy with her portrayal in the upcoming biopic “Azhar”.
“That’s completely wrong. Even Azhar bhai was a bit concerned about that. She didn’t say anything of that sort to the press but some paper had carried it, which is baseless,” Emraan told PTI.
