Video of “Sanatan Sanstha” workers talking about their roles in bomb blasts goes viral

Mumbai: Two Sadhaks of Sanatan Sanstha made confessions about their roles in bomb blasts. These confessions were made to Special Investigation Team of India Today. It may be mentioned that these Sadhaks were acquitted in Bomb Blasts case.

It may be noted that the centres of the Sanatan Sanstha are spread across Maharashtra, Goa and other states of the country. The name of the organization had appeared in the chargesheet made by the Maharashtra Anti Terror Squad. The organization was allegedly involved in bomb attacks which took place outside theatres and cinema halls in 2008. However, the organization rejected the accusations.

According to the report published in India Today, now, Mangesh Dinkar Nikam (45), who was the accused in the 2008 bomb blast case confessed that he had planted the explosives.

The bomb was planted with an aim to take revenge for the alleged wrong depiction of Hindu goddesses and god in a Marathi play, Nikam said.

Nikam also confessed that he is associated with the Sanatan Sanstha since 2000.

Haribhau Krishnna Divekar (58) another person from Sanatan Sanstha also made shocking revelations. He confessed that he was involved in the 2008 bomb attacks. Divekar said that explosive was in his possession.

It may be mentioned that he was acquitted from the charges on the ground of insufficient evidence.

It may be recalled that in 2011, the trial court had convicted two of the six accused named in the ATS chargesheet. The names of the convicted persons are Ramesh Hanumant Gadkari and Vikram Vinay Bhave whereas the acquitted persons are Mangesh Dinkar Nikam, Santosh Sitaram Angre, Haribhau Krishna Divekar and Hemant Tukaram Chalke. Names of these persons apppeared in the chargesheet for their alleged involvement in bomb attacks which took place between January 2008 and June 2008.

Reacting to the confessions of acquitted persons, Maharashtra government said that action would be taken against the culprits.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj Chavan, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra demanded a ban on the Sanstha.

Salman Khurshid, Senior Congress leader also demanded for the reinvestigation of the cases against acquitted Sanstha Sadhaks.

On the other hand, Spokesperson of Sanstha associate Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Ramesh Shinde raised questions over the video.
