Video: Mamata Banerjee and her cabinet took oath “in the name of Ishwar and Allah”

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee who took oath for her second consecutive term on Friday changed the oath which is administered to Chief Minister and Cabinet Members from “in the name of Ishwar” to “in the name of Ishwar and Allah”.

According to the news published in Indian Express, Mamata Banerjee said, “Ami Mamata Banerjee, Ishwar o Allah r naame shapoth koritechhi, j bidhi dara sthapita Bharater songbidhaaner proti ami okopot shroddha o nishtha poshon koribo (I, Mamata Banerjee, do swear in the name of Ishwar and Allah, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as established by law).”

Talking on this, Siddiqullah Chowdhury, who took oath as a Minister of State, said that Mamata Banerjee is a secular leader and the move was to send positive message to everyone.
