AGRA: Aligarh police arrested seven members of Hindu Mahasabha for purifying the spot where Muslims offered Namaz, Times of India reported.
On Saturday, some Muslims had come to Collector’s office to complain the District Magistrate about the water logging in the area caused by blocked drains.
It was just a coincidence that while leaving, they offered Namaz there as it was time for their prayers, claimed local police and administration officials.
Mohd Nizam, who offered namaz at the collectorate gate, said, “It was a just a coincidence that when we were leaving, it was time for our prayers”, he claimed.
But it seems that the coincidence doesn’t go down well with the members of Hindu Mahasabha who reached the spot and hold a “pooja” ceremony at the collectorate.
They even purified the road with Ganga jal where Muslim offered Namaz, claiming that their act of “purifying” was aimed at “washing away” the “negativity” spread by Muslims.

Ashok Pandey, spokesperson of Hindu Mahasabha alleged that Muslims had purposely chosen the Collecotorate to offer Namaz.
“How can anyone offer prayers on the streets”, he said questioning that if the mosque was waterlogged they can offer the namaz at another mosque.
“They came prepared with their ‘daris’ (mats) and purposely offered prayers on the streets to vitiate the atmosphere”, Pandey said.
SSP Aligarh, Rajesh Pandey confirmed TOI that the Hindu Mahasabha activists were arrested since they had no permission to hold a “pooja” ceremony. They were later released.
