Reeling under the scorching summer, people in Maharashtra’s drought-hit Beed district are seen climbing down the well to fetch water. Beed’s constant fight remains just for two buckets of water. Villagers in Beed district rely solely on water tankers that come once in four days. The water they receive is dirty and frothy, but they have no other choice. With dam water level less than two percent in the district and the nearest water resource, Underkhel Dam, 20 kilometres away, people have no choice than to rely on tankers. Districts like Latur, Ahmednagar and Osmanabad have received less than 50 percent of expected rain for two years now.
