Carnaiba: In the mines of Carnaiba in Brazil, a big 4.3 feet high weighing 360 kg emerald was discovered last month.
This precious stone was found by the Bahia Mineral Cooperative at the depth of 200 meter below the ground level at Carnaiba mine in the Pindobacu district of Brazil.
For security reasons, the person who bought the emerald refused either to disclose the price or to give interview.
However, his lawyer, Marcio Jandir, told that the owner intends to exhibit it at museums and libraries. The owner of the emerald has all the relevant documents to travel with the stone in Brazil.
It may be noted that this is not the first emerald found in the region. Earlier, in 2001, an emerald weighing 20 kg was found. It was valued at $310m. Later, it was illegally transported to US, which created a lot of legal problems between the two nations. This dispute was resolved after a decision was taken in 2015 to keep it in the US.
