Two labourers were killed and at least 10 were seriously injured when a building collapsed at Film Nagar in the city on Sunday. Most of the pillars of the building which were being constructed by Film Nagar Cultural Club as an extension were razed to the ground.
According to the locals, the design of the building was the cause of the collapse. The slab work was done only last night engaging around 50 workers. The six-storey construction plan was completed up to fourth floor. The main building of the club was also affected due to the collapse. The deceased were identified as Ansar Shaik of Kolkata and Anand from Hyderabad. The injured have been admitted in Apollo hospital and some of their condition is stated to be critical.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today expressed shock at the collapse of a building under construction at Film Nagar in which two workers reportedly died and about 10 to 15 workers are under the debris. KCR conveyed sympathies to bereaved family members. He directed the officials to offer better treatment to those injured and conduct rescue operations.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed distress at the incident and asked Telangana Government to offer better treatment to those injured in the incident. Naidu directed his TDP ranks to provide help to the victims. In a note he expressed sympathies to the bereaved family members.
