Our victory will be the people’s victory, says Uttarakhand CM Rawat

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], Mar. 11 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Friday said the Congress would win the elections with a full majority in the state and added that the party’s victory would be the people’s victory.

“I have full faith that we will form the government with a full majority. We will win for sure. I pray twice everyday so that I can deliver my best and perform my duty for the people of the state. Weak people like me, who don’t have any other medium or back support, will win because people have supported me. This victory will be of Congress workers who have created history by contesting elections without resources,” Rawat told ANI.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari also expressed confidence about his party winning the Uttarakhand polls saying, “In Uttarakhand, the BJP is leading because people want our party to win.”

The counting of votes across five states-Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur began at 8 a.m. this morning.

The Election Commission has issued guidelines on security arrangements for counting of votes, and has also set up facilities for disseminating trends and results of elections of five assemblies.

In Uttarakhand, counting of votes will be held at 15 centres across the state.

State’s Chief Electoral Officer Radha Raturi reviewed preparations for counting of votes through video conferencing. (ANI)
