The YSR Congress blew the whistle for the local body elections by organizing a regional conference here on Friday.
Addressing the conference in which workers and leaders of the Rayalaseema districts and Nellore participated, Vijayamma called upon the ranks to work with commitment and win the elections.
Alleging that there was a collusion between the ruling Congress New Delhi the opposition TDP, she asked the party leaders and workers to effectively spurn it. Expressing confidence that the party would sweep the elections, she said workers were the main pillars of the party’s strength.
Vijayamma called upon the leaders and the workers to work united and snatch all the village panchayats. She also asked the party men to be vigilant against tampering of the electoral rolls by the ruling party. She reminded them how the party won all the elections ever since its inception and implored upon the workers to further strengthen the party by winning the local body elections. She said there was need for taking up the local problems of the people and trying for their resolution.
Charging the Congress and TDP of working with the single point of damaging Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, she asked the party leaders to effectively oppose these two parties. She said local bodies presented a great opportunity to the YSR Congress to show its strength.
Earlier, Vijayamma garlanded the statue of her late husband Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the conference premises. (NSS)
