Victory for Muslims: LANCO case decided in favour of Wakf Board

The long awaited and most crucial verdict of The Lanco Hills case in Manikonda village which was encroached on Wakf land is came out. The court has given its verdict in favour of Andhra Pradesh Wakf Board.

The managing committee of the Dargah Hazrath Hussain Shah Wali filed a case in relation to the sale, alienation, transfer, mortgage, exchange and lease to the entire property in Manikonda Jagir admeasuring about 1600. Of this, LANCO was occupied 108.10 acre in Survey No. 201 of Manikonda village.

NOTE:

1. The whole project was sold in 39 hours the selling price started from Rs. 4,500/- per sq feet to 5900 Per Sq. feet.

2. 8 buildings 100 plus storied building is coming up on this Wakf Land.

3. Three times the Wakf Board lawyers tried to approach the Supreme Court, but the Government has restricted the Board.


Role of Urdu Newspapers:

Fearing further indiscriminate sale of wakf properties, leading Urdu dailies of Hyderabad stepped in to safeguard them. Siasat Daily in association with Munsif and Rahnuma simultaneously launched campaigns mobilised readers to demand the state government to remove all “illegal encroachments” on wakf land. As a result Government came into action.

The three dailies carried advertisements, if not reports or statements on the subject everyday. The most striking feature of the campaign has been the banner advertisement that appears below the newspaper mastheads.

An estimated 70,000 properties spread over 1.65 lakh acres of land across the state come under the Wakf Board.
