Victims of Vatoli waiting for justice

Nearly 3 years back, a communal riot occurred in Bhanisa of Adilabad District in which four Muslims were killed. In the neighboring village six persons including 3 children were burnt alive after killed them. The marks of identifications were also tampered.

The culprits were exonerated due to insufficient evidence. When the news of the victims of Vatoli were exposed by Media, the State Govt. turned this heinous act as an incident of elective short circuit. When the dead bodies were found, Govt. got panicky because one leg of Mahboob Khan was missing, which was found in the next room.

The bones of his wife were broken. Cloth was pressed into the mouth of his daughter. It was quite evident that these persons were killed earlier and their dead bodies were burnt. At that time, some Muslim leaders agitated against the Congress Govt. and demanded CBI enquiry because they had no faith in State police.

After the enquiry of National Minorities Commission, the then CM Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had recommended for CBI enquiry. The then Home Minister K. Jana Reddy ahd also issued a G.O. on 16-102008 for CBI probe fearing the elections but even after the lapse of three years, CBI didn’t start any investigation.

The local police probed the case and the charge sheet was prepared in such a way that the magistrate dismissed it. The Hindu Vahini activists who were arrested could get bail easily.

The brother of the deceased Mr. Mumtaz Khan pleads that they should get justice. He doesn’t want ex-gratia payment. He told hat he lost confidence in State police. The investigations were made in such a way that it was not possible to arrest the real conspirators.

CBI failed to file another charge sheet. In a very depressed mood, Mr. Mumtaz Khan told that he has become lonely and no one is supporting him. He raised the question that why aren’t the human rights organizations taking up our case. If a Dalit or Hindu would have been burnt alive, all the human rights organizations would have taken up such cases. He told that CPI (ML) Commands greater influence in Vatoli but they have not taken up our case because we are Muslims.

Mumtaz Khan told that he had met the then DGP Mr. S.P. Yadav along with a Muslim MP and requested for CBI enquiry. He told that what will happen by CBI probe. Whatever compensation the Govt. is giving accept it and don’t get emotional. In this way, by giving ex-gratia, Govt. has tried to shut our mouth but we won’t keep quiet, he said. Criticizing on the Muslim leadership he said that they exploited us for getting our votes.

Now the Muslim leadership has sold itself to Congress. Mr. Anwar Khan was deputed in the eastern region as a soldier employed in Indo-Tibetan Border force but the Govt. did not save his family. His father Mahboob Khan, his mother, sister and three brothers all of them were killed and later burnt.
