Hyderabad: In order to curb the brutal activities of the miscreants, there is a need to promote congenial atmosphere and to give equal rights to all the citizens. The series of harassments meted out to Rohingya Muslims declaring them as Bangladeshi citizens is not coming to an end. Those who struggle to get their rights are being targeted thereby creating an atmosphere of fear psychosis.
The delegation of Karwan-e-Mohabbat on the second day of its visit reached Goalpara district of Assam. They consoled Yakub Ali’s father Shamshul Haq. The delegation also reached the house of Rafiq ul Islam, President of Students’ Organization and consoled his family members. They demanded the Govt. to take action against the culprits.
Dr. Ram Puniyani, Mr. Harsh Mander and Mr. John Dayal met the members of the deceased and consoled them. While giving the details of the assassination of 30-year-old Rafiq-ul-Islam, his father Abbasuddin Ahmed shed tears. He told that his son was an activist fighting for the rights of Bodo Land Territorial Council. Those who did not want the development of this area targeted him and shot 12 bullets. He was killed on 1st August on 4:30 p.m. when PM Modi was in the State accompanied by the CM of Assam. He further told that his son had no enmity with anyone but the Saffron activists were irritated against his activities since he was getting popularity in all the sections of Bodo land whereas all the other students’ organizations were engaged in spreading hatred. Rafiq ul Islam’s brother, Syed ul Islam told that his brother had the support of Nepalis, Bodos and Adivasis. This was evidenced with the presence of more than 50000 persons in his funeral procession. Police has taken no action in this case. The formation of SIT was announced in the presence of PM but investigations have not been started.

A peace rally was organized on 30th June in which Yakub Ali was killed by police firing. Govt. announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh and the case was neglected. He further told that the citizens who speak Bengali are being targeted threating them as Bangladeshis. This has been going on since 1972. In many cases, the parents are treated as Indians but their progeny are not being treated as Indians.
Mr. Harsh Mander told that there is a need to create awareness among the people and they should exert their pressure by showing their strength. Highlighting the objectives of Karwan-e-Mohabbat, he said that there is a need to eradicate hatred and fear which are being spread in the country. India has no danger with anyone except the policies of RSS. It is the responsibility of every citizen to save the country from such ideologies to uphold secular values.
Mr. John Dayal told that people are getting disappointed after the change of governance in Assam. The youths are coming forward to eradicate hatred. Their efforts may play a key role in changing the mindset of the people.
