Vice President Ansari condoles demise of senior journalist Girish Nikam

New Delhi: Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari has condoled the passing away of senior journalist and Rajya Sabha TV anchor Girish Nikam, who breathed his last on Monday after a severe heart attack.

Vice President Ansari in his message said that Nikam was a valued and respected member of Rajya Sabha Television.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the untimely demise of Shri Girish Nikam, Anchor at Rajya Sabha Television. My thoughts are with the bereaved family. Shri Nikam was a valued and respected member of Rajya Sabha Television,” said Vice President Ansari.

“I join the Rajya Sabha Television team in offering my condolences to his family and friends and in praying for eternal rest for the departed soul,” he added.

59-year old Nikam complained of uneasiness while shooting a programme after which he was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he was announced dead.

He started his journalistic career with English Daily Star of Mysore and later shifted to Indian Express in Bengaluru.

He worked in various media organisations including India Today, Deccan Chronicle and News Today before joining the Rajya Sabha TV.

Nikam’s body will be taken to Bengaluru tomorrow for the last rites. (ANI)
