Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Saturday announced that he would launch a mass movement against the “anti-people” policies of TRS Government from Siddipet.
Speaking to media persons after the CLP meeting here, VHR thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for making him the Rajya Sabha MP for three terms. He said he would not be contesting the elections this time due to lack of required numbers with the Congress party. However, he thanked senior leaders K. Jana Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for their support. He said since the Congress party had supported the candidature of K. Keshava Rao in last Rajya Sabha elections, it expected the TRS to reciprocate the gesture this time. However, KCR announced the candidature of D. Srinivas and Capt. Lakshmikanth Rao without consulting anyone.
VHR said since he would be not contesting the elections, he would dedicate his full time in strengthening the Congress party at all levels for 2019 elections. He said his mass movement would begin from Siddipet and would be organised across the Telangana State. (INN)
