VHR condemns KCR’s cheap liquor policy

Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao has strongly condemned the new excise policy of Telangana Government which would provide cheap liquor to the people.

Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here on Wednesday, VHR said that the cheap liquor policy was being implemented from October 1, just a day before ‘Gandhi Jayanthi’, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He said Mahatma Gandhi was strongly against the consumption of liquor and therefore, introducing a new liquor policy coinciding with his birth anniversary was an insult to the Father of the Nation. He accused KCR of promoting consumption of liquor among poor people. He asked whether ‘Bangaru Telangana’ could be achieved by planting five crore toddy trees.

VHR also demanded that the State Government take immediate measures to control the spread of Dengue. He said several deaths have been reported from across the State due to Dengue fever. He alleged that the Chief Minister gives no importance to the human lives.

The Rajya Sabha member said he strongly suspect that KCR was being misled by some officials and the Chief Minister has been implementing their ideas blindly. (INN)
