VHR cautions partymen against supporting Jagan

Hyderabad, January 28: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao today cautioned the party MPs, MLAs and others who were supporting former Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy to ‘think’ how people would react if they go alongwith a person on whom the court has served a notice relating to ‘illegal’ assets case. All facts, including the persons and money transactions involved in Jagan’s assets, would come out after enquiry by the court, he said.

Speaking to newsmen in the state Assembly premises, Hanumantha Rao remarked that the persons who included industrialists and others who got benefited during late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime, had invested in Sakshi newspaper and the channel owned by Jagan. The persons (referring to Jagan and his loyalists) who got elected with the blessings of Congress have earned crores of rupees, were now targeting the Congress leadership.

The Rajya Sabha member brushed aside Jagan supporters’ claim that the Congress has come to power in 2004 and 2009 because of YSR’s efforts. Why did the Congress not come to power in 1985 and 1999 if YSR had got such an ‘image’?, he asked.

Replying to a query, he said that it was for them (MLAs supporting Jagan) to decide whether to move a no-confidence motion against the government or not.
