Lambasting the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for stating that it was not possible to divide the State on political considerations, Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has asked as to why these people used the Telangana issue in the year 2001 and in 2004 to dethrone the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government. Reacting on the Chief Minister’s refusal to meet the Telangana Congress MPs on Telangana March Day, Hanumantha Rao said that it showed Kiran Kumar Reddy’s culture.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Hanumantha Rao found fault with the Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao’s statement that the Telangana people were trying to loot the Seemandhra people’s assets in Hyderabad. Hanumantha Rao hurled a challenge at Kavuri to show such incidents and said that he was ready to show Kavuri the incidents in which the Seemandhra people grabbed assets of Telangana people. He said that Paritala Ravi during TDP regime grabbed several assets of Telangana people and later Maddelacheruvu Suri, Mangali Krishna and recently YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and there was nothing with the Telangana people to loot now.
He said that he was getting doubts on Kiran Kumar Reddy after seeing his statement that the State cannot be divided for politics as the latter was not the Chief Minister of the State but the Chief Minister of Seemandhra region. He asked the Chief Minister to say that the youth, who committed suicides for the sake of Telangana, belonged to which parties leaders’ sons. He said that it was painful that still the youth were committing for the sake of Telangana.
He said that the Congress party used the Telangana issue in 2001 for the sake of political gain and sent a memorandum on Telangana to the AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi with the signs of 37 MLAs. “Why these so called leaders failed to express their objection then as was doing now”, he questioned. He also questioned the Seemandhra leaders as to why they failed to express their objections when the Congress entered into alliance with the TRS in 2004 elections. “But today every leader is saying that the Telangana demand is for the sake of political gain. Where were all these leaders”, he questioned. He said that it was not proper on the part of the Chief Minister to say that the division of the State was only possible with the consensus of the people. He questioned as to how the consensus was possible as the Seemandhra people are 3/4th .
He said that in 1969 and 72 there were only two movements—Jai Telangana and Jai Andhra but now surprisingly Samaikyandhra movement. The Samaikyandhra movement had come on to the screen with the leaders sponsorship, he said and added that these leaders went to the Andhra University, Venkateshwara University and other Universities in the Seemandhra region and given money to launch a Samaikyandhra movement. He said that he knew who gave money to the students to start Samaikyandhra movement. He said that even on December 7, 2009, no Seemandhra leader had expressed objection on formation of separate Telangana but surprisingly on December 9, 2009, after the Centre’s statement the drama started.
He said that everyone demanding disciplinary action against the Telangana leaders but nobody demanding for action against the Seemandhra Congress leaders, whatever they might have spoken. He said that the Seemandhra leaders were speaking provocatively now.
He said that the State Government had given permission to the Telangana March but not allowed the Osmania University students to participate in the Telangana March. “How the students will go to the Telangana March spot. Whether they go by the Helicopter”, he questioned.
He said that it was first time in the history that the police stopped the trains and buses on the day Telangana March was held. The people had attended the Telangana March even though the police and State Government created several hurdles to the March.
He said that the Union Home Minister expressed happiness over the peaceful Telangana March but in the State, the Chief Minister and Seemandhra leaders were unhappy over the March and are provokingly making the statements.
Finding fault with the City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma for stating that he had the information that the Telangana protagonists will attack on Seemandhra people’s assets, he asked the Commissioner to show such incidents.
He said that creation of separate Telangana Sate was not a division of the State. Telangana was already a State and Seemandhra merged in the Telangana region because at that time they have no Assembly, Secretariat and High Court buildings and trains, helicopter facilities etc. He said that the Britishers also created several hurdles before the attainment of freedom to the nation.
He said that people used to feel pain when a child died in a village but the Seemandhra leaders were not feeling any pain even though more than 800 youth died. He said that there were no people even though Seemandhra leaders have organised a Samaikyandhra Maha Sabha in Eluru.
He also found fault with the Chief Minister for giving counter statements to the Telangana Congress MPs instead of coordinating them. He said that some Telangana leaders were speaking on behalf of Chief Minister and were saying that they have work with the Chief Minister so that they were speaking in favor of Chief Minister.
Hanumantha Rao has made it clear that the Telangana movement will not stop with the hurdles created by the State Government. (NSS)
