Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao on Sunday reiterated his demand that the Congress party tender an apology for the mistakes committed by former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to reporters at his residence here, Hanumantha Rao said that the Congress party’s failure to admit the mistakes done by YSR has helped the YSR Congress party project him as a leader bigger than the ruling party. He said besides apologising for YSR’s mistakes, the State Government should return the land acquired from poor and farmers for various projects in the State.
Regarding by-polls results, he said that the Congress candidates lost the elections as they did not get the required support from party leaders. Further, the party has failed to take up an effective campaign to highlight the various schemes being implemented for the welfare of different sections of the society.
Hanumanth Rao said that the YSR Congress party won the by-elections purely due to sympathy wave. He said such waves do not last long and the party would not be able to sustain its victory in near future.
The Rajya Sabha MP said that the Congress analyse the reasons for its failure. He demanded that all nominated posts be filled immediately and the services of sincere workers be recognised. He said the party would not be able to win the 2014 elections unless it re-establish its binding with the people. He said the Congress leaders should reach the masses to know about their problems and solve them on immediate basis.
With regard to Parkal seat, he said YSRC candidate Konda Surekha enjoyed the secret backing of BJP and that was the reason why it got so many votes to stand as the runner-up in by-elections.
