Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumanth Rao has accused Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu of going back on his stand on giving Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises on Sunday, VHR reminded that during the discussion on Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in Rajya Sabha last year, Venkaiah demanded Special Status for AP for 10 years. However, he changed his stand after BJP came to power and now citing technical and other reasons to deny Special Status for AP.
VHR announced that the Congress party would move a private Bill in the Rajya Sabha seeking Special Status for AP. He said he would raise the issue in the forthcoming budget session of the Parliament.
Speaking about Land Acquisition Bill, VHR said that the Congress party would strongly oppose the Bill in the Parliament. Further, he urged the TRS Government to pass a resolution in Telangana legislature against the proposed Bill, which he claimed, was against the interest of farmers. (INN)
