VH urges Rahul to stay put

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao here on Wednesday said the party workers would be demoralized if Rahul Gandhi resigned from his post. Pointing that Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister and grand mother of Rahul Gandhi also lost elections in 1977, Hanumantha Rao said the party had won the elections in 1980.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, Rao urged Rahul Gandhi to heed to the advice of party loyalists like him. On the victory of YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy in AP, he said even Jagan was surprised at the number of seats he won in the polls. He also demanded that the government pay Rs 20 lakh ex gratia to the Intermediate Board victims.
