Congress senior leader V Hanumanth Rao today slammed Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for reiterating that he would take over Osmania University land to provide housing facility for the poor.
Talking to mediapersons here, VH suggested that the Chief Minister abstain from taking over 11 acres of the varsity land in the best interest of the students. VH alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to take over the lands instead of protecting them from land grabbers. About 50 per cent of lands of the varsity were encroached upon by some vested interests, he said. If necessary, the Chief Minister can make use of vacant land allotted to SEZs and big companies in the twin cities.
Keeping the future of students in view, the erstwhile Hyderabad yHyHHHHHrulers had allotted thousands of acres for the varsity. He objected to KCR’s remarks of using 11 acres of the varsity land. “The varsity land is precious and needed for the future generations. The Chief Minister should see an alternative land for the poor housing instead”, VH opined.
The Congress leader found fault with the TRS leadership for ridiculing AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi for taking up “Rythu Bharosa Yatra” in Adilabad district. The TRS leaders cannot politicize the yatra, which indeed boosted the morale of the farming community in the State, he said. “It is the Congress culture to console farmers or people in distress and Rahul’s yatra was one such”, he added. The government should disburse the remaining portion of crop loan waiver to the farmers, he demanded.
Nagam flays KCR
At a separate press meet, BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy opposed KCR’s plans to use OU land for poor housing. He said KCR became Chief Minister on the sacrifices made by people and the students. However, the people are not ready to fall a prey to the gimmicks of the Chief Minister, who was indulging in mesmerizing tactics. The people will teach KCR a lesson in the near future, if he fails to mend his ways, he warned. (NSS)
