VH faults Guv for roaming around temples

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has made a startling statement against Governor ESL Narsimhan alleging that common devotees were facing problems due to the latter’s roaming around the temples frequently.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, Hanumantha Rao wondered at the Governor conducting Panchanga Sravanam a day before Ugadi festival. Asking the Governor whether he came to read Panchangam, VH alleged that ‘Panthulla Petthanam’ (Brahmins domination) has increased after Narsimhan’s arrival in the State as Governor. Alleging that the Governor was visiting Tirumala frequently, the Rajya Sabha faulted the Governor for roaming in Tirupati without shirt though the President maintained protocol during his Tirumala darshan.
Stating that Ugadi Panchanga Sravanam has turned into a political panchangam in Telugu States, VH lamented that the pandits were reading panchangam in favor of the political party where they render the panchangam. “The Ugadi Panchangam would lose its value if the trend continued”, he mused. (NSS)
