VH deplores defection of Congress MLAs

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday said while only affluent people were able to thrive in politics in the State, the poor people have no place to remain in politics.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, Hanumantha Rao said the rich were showing their influence in MLA, MP and even in local body elections. He alleged that the officials of the Election Commission and the State police were not able to prevent the illegal expenditure being spent by the contesting candidates. Commenting on the defection of MLAs, he said it was so sad that some MLAs of the Congress were defecting to other parties immorally.

Hanumantha Rao called upon the people of the State to rebel against such immoral MLAs. He also said the party leadership was not able to prevent the defection of the MLAs into the ruling TRS party. He alleged that the in-charges of the party were turning into mute spectators when such defection of MLAs was going on. He urged the party leadership to not take such defected leaders into the party in future. He also asked the State leadership to give importance to old leaders instead of the new ones.
