Warangal, July 21: The TDP supporters attacked the convoy of Mr V. Hanumantha Rao, Congress Rajya Sabha member, while he was on election campaigning in Raghunathapally of Warangal district. As the TDP supporters rained stones and eggs on the car in which the MP was traveling, the police rushed to the sport and resorted to lathi charge.
In the State capital, the TDP workers took to streets in Basheerbagh and Punjagutta crossroads and burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister. One person even doused himself with kerosene and attempted self immolation.
Meanwhile, the TDP supporters organised relay hunger strikes in all towns and district headquarters to protest against the brutalities of the Maharashtra police. A delegation of TDP leaders also called on the Governor, Mr E S L Narasimhan, at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum.
