Condemning Health Minister C Laxma Reddy’s remarks against Congress party about medical treatment of Nerella victims, Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao has said the Congress will launch relay hunger strikes on Nerella issue and 20 Congress activists from each district will participate in the relay hunger strike.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, VH demanded that the State government own responsibility for the deaths of Nerella villagers. The incident in Nerella was true and the State government was defending it. The government failed to initiate action against any sand lorry or drivers though the Congress raised the issue several times.
It was sad the injuries suffered by Nerella victims were not yet cured. IT Minister KT Ramarao had given several assurances to the victims of Nerella in Vemulavada hospital, but not fulfilled even a single assurance, VH alleged. “The TPCC working president Bhatti Vikramarka and I admitted Nerella victims in NIMS. NIMS doctors made it clear that the former sarpanch needed a surgery. But the government has thrown the Nerella victims out of hospital using police force. “I and other Congress leaders staged a dharna for an hour but there was no response from the government. The government also obstructed the Nerella victims in Care Hospital. I never saw incidents like sending the patients out from the hospital at midnight”, he lamented and said the Congress will obstruct the shifting of Secretariat from the existing place. (NSS)
